Dear Guests of Dar’s Inn

Monday May 21, 2018 is a holiday in Ontario known as Victoria Day. This means that most businesses will be closed, both in Ottawa and the Quebec side (Hull, Gatineau, etc.).

This includes but is not limited to:

  • banks
  • grocery stores
  • retail stores and malls
  • liquor and beer stores
  • OC Transpo¬†operates on a Sunday schedule on Victoria Day

Thankfully, there are some exceptions to this rule ūüôā

  • Shoppers Drug Mart at Westgate Shopping Centre (5 minute walk) is open 24h and you can get some groceries there
  • Most stores in the Byward Market will be open on Monday as it is a designated tourist zone
  • The¬†Winerack¬†(store to purchase Ontario wine) at 54 ByWard Market Sq. is open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; 6pm on Sunday and is open on the holiday Monday.
  • The Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa will be open on Monday, again because it is in a designated tourist area
  • Two Grocery Stores – Whole Foods¬†at Landsdowne Park and¬†Metro¬†in the Glebe will be open
  • Most SAQ stores on the Quebec side will be open Monday as will many malls and retail stores
